Pedicure nail art you can DIY at home – tips from an expert | Metro News

You may or may not have seen Lila Grace Moss’ eye-catching pedicure that divided the internet thanks to the long extensions the teen was wearing.

Now, whether toenail acrylics are your thing or not, we’re not here to judge.

The photo just got us thinking about how there’s so much space on the internet dedicated to manicures and hand nail art that pedis seem to fall a bit by the wayside.

If you’d like to dabble in pedicure nail art trends but don’t know where to start, we’ve compiled some inspo photos and chatted Tinu Bello, senior brand ambassador for Mylee, to get her thoughts on trends of the moment and how to get the looks at home.

First, we had to know whether there was any chance of toenail extensions like Lila’s catching on.

Tinu says that sort of thing isn’t really necessary, especially if your nails are already strong.

That is, of course, unless you want to make a pretty bold statement.

Tinu adds: ‘I personally think toenail extensions should only be done to fix a broken toenail, for reconstruction etc.

‘There is also a lot of maintenance of an infill every two weeks and not to mention nail lifting and the contraindications that come with that.’

When asked what her favourite trends are, she tells us that she loves using different colours.

‘My favourites are pedis with coloured French tips or chrome,’ she says.

Come to think of it, we have been seeing a lot of chrome French tip manicures, so why not do the same with our pedicures?

Tinu adds: ‘A silver or gold chrome pedicure is perfect for this transitional season. It’s also a really easy way to take a pedicure to the next level with Mylee Chrome Cushion Powder Pens.

‘Another way to update a pedicure is doing a French Mani with coloured tips, this is a really simple and effective way to update a pedi. For any pedicure use the Mylee Pedicure Kit to prep.’

‘Top Tip: The chrome effect will vary depending on the colour of gel polish you use underneath. For the true chrome colour to shine, we recommend using over a pure black. MyGel shade Stalker is perfect for this.’

‘Top Tip: You can also use a liner brush to paint on your perfect French curve and fill in the tip.’

There’s also a £4 silicone tool that can help you nail that French tip in seconds – although be warned, some with shorter nails have found it harder to use.
