Hailey Bieber’s Glazed Donut Nails Are Going Viral

Hailey Bieber has to be one the hardest glowing people in Hollywood. The model recently bottled up her perpetual dewiness with Rhode, a skincare range designed to yield “glazed donut skin,” a phrase she popularized. She even appears alongside what appears to be a Krispy Kreme in marketing visuals for the brand.

But Bieber’s glazed-donut-ness doesn’t end with her skin (or lips—Rhode includes a peptide lip treatment). She has now also made glazed donut nails a thing. It all started at this year’s Met Gala, where the star teamed up glistening cheekbones (see above) with an equally lustrous mani.

Her nail artist, Zola Ganzorig, posted a breakdown of the look to her Instagram, revealing the look was achieved by rubbing OPI’s Chrome Effects powder in the shade Tin Man Can over the same brand’s gel polish in Funny Bunny, a soft, sheer white.

The tutorial has since gone viral, cementing glazed donut nails as the undisputed mani of the summer. Bieber herself can’t get enough of the trend, which she’s been steadily sporting since the Met. “I’m having a chrome nail obsession,” she recently told Refinery 29.

Now, unfortunately, OPI’s Chrome Effects powder is a professional product, meaning it is not readily available to consumers. But you can snag dupes on Amazon for similar results. Typically, they are best used over a gel top coat, which makes them perfect if you’ve got a nail lamp at home.

If not, there are some regular polishes that can recreate the look. Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure in Luna Pearl is a solid option. We’d describe it as a sheer, opalescent white with glints of silver and blush—a very close match to Bieber’s Met Gala mani.

Essie’s Gel Couture in Lace Is More also makes a good contender. It’s more of vanilla hue (also on the sheer side) subtly laced with extra-fine golden shimmer. It’s really pretty and not overly sparkly.

But if shimmery nails of any kind just really aren’t your jam, skip the chrome part and go for a simple milky polish instead. Bieber’s Funny Bunny is also available in a regular (a.k.a. non-gel) polish. Another cult-favourite is Essie’s Marshmallow, a gorgeous sheer cream that’s a tad warmer than Funny Bunny. Sealed with a high-shine top coat, both options make nails look chic, clean and effortlessly gleaming—much like Bieber herself.
