A 29-year-old Fort McCoy woman on felony probation was arrested after she allegedly stole cosmetic items from a local Walmart.

On Monday, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office corporal responded to the Walmart located at 34 Bahia Avenue in Ocala in reference to a retail petit theft incident. Upon arrival, a loss prevention employee informed the corporal that Janet Louise Audia had been observed shoplifting.

According to the employee, Audia was observed walking around the store, and she ripped open the packaging of a few items. The employee stated that Audia placed those items in a bag and then walked past the cash registers without paying for the items.

The employee approached Audia, led her to an office, and she allegedly admitted to the employee that she had stolen the items. According to the MCSO report, the employee recovered the following items from Audia: a salon dip kit, eye mascara, two nail polishes, and a nail pro tool kit.

The value of the stolen items was $45.73, and the report indicated that the items were damaged. When the corporal made contact with Audia, she stated that she did not want to answer any questions.

A computer search of Audia revealed that she has four prior theft convictions, and she is currently on felony probation for trafficking in stolen property.

Audia was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where she is currently being held on $1,000 bond. She is facing felony charges for second degree petit theft (third or subsequent offense) and violation of probation.

A court date has been scheduled on Thursday, July 7 at 9 a.m., according to jail records.
