Anyone else feel uninspired by the usual muted, subdued nail polish shades of fall? Like, how many times can I wear black or burgundy in my lifetime, you know? And if you feel the same, you're gonna love what's trending for fall this year—because for once, things are looking a little different than usual (read: no PSL orange). With metallics, shades of blue, and lots of sparkles, the fall nail trends for 2022 honestly feel pretty similar to the fall 2022 makeup trends, and I'm here for it all. Because a change of the seasons should feel like a style refresh, instead of a complete redo of the year before, know what I mean?

So to get inspired for the upcoming season, check out the biggest nail trends from the fall 2022 fashion week runways, below.

According to nail artist Gina Edwards, the trendiest nail shape for fall is a tapered coffin or a “skinny” coffin nail. And judging by the runways, the elongated ballerina nail shape will definitely be a big one come fall. In terms of nail colors, Edwards says we'll be seeing a lot of reflective metallic colors with light shimmers that “catch the beauty of an opalescence.” If you like the sound of things so far, then keep scrolling for even more fall 2022 nail trends to look forward to wearing.

Edwards might have been inspired by the '30s when designing the nail looks for Markarian's autumn/winter 2022 show, but nothing about the pearl-embellished nails or almond nails coated in glitter nail polish felt old-fashioned.

Get the look on your natural nails with a coat of sheer nude nail polish, or make it easy (fine, easier) on your non-dominant hand by starting with pre-painted press-on nails. With these, you can also glue the pearl embellishments onto the fake nails before applying them to your own to make it even easier.

The models at both the Bronx and Banco fall show, as well as the Dion Lee fall/winter show, wore silver chrome nails, so that's pretty much confirmation that the metallic mani trend will be huge for fall 2022. And if you match it to your glitter eyeshadow? Even better.

It's hard to get that super-refective, high-shine finish at home with regular nail polish, so stick with ready-to-wear nails you can simply stick on instead, like these.

Edwards was going for a glam-slash-edgy vibe for the Alice + Olivia fall 2022 presentation, and I truly can't think of a better way to describe the black almond nails with rhinestone-covered tips.

This kit comes with both clear crystals and iridescent rhinestones in a range of different sizes to create whatever look you want. Pro tip: Use a sticky, waxy pencil to pick up the smaller stones and dip them into the nail glue without making a mess.

If you want to know what a subtle statement nail looks like, turn your eyes to the models at the Brandon Maxwell fall/winter 2022 show. Nail artist Jin Soon Choi chose a shorter nail shape and solid nail color for the models but stuck letters on the thumbs for a secret little monogram moment.

If you can't even write in cursive with a pencil and paper, how are you supposed to write tiny cursive letters with a thin brush and some nail polish, right? Answer: These nail stickers. Just slap 'em on and seal them with a clear top coat.

In case you somehow missed it, the color of the year is periwinkle, so expect to see a whole lotta blue nail polish in 2022. The models at Christian Siriano clearly got the memo.

A striper nail art brush, a steady hand, and this nail polish in two different shades are all you need to recreate this look at home. Start with a base of your lighter shade, then use the darker blue to paint the S-shape line and fill in the other half of the nail.

No need to go full-on black nail polish for fall. Dip your toes fingers into the trend with a little stripe or two on a few accent nails, similar to what the models wore at the Peter Do fall/winter 2022 show.

This black polish is so opaque and pigmented, you really only need one coat. If you're down to try a look like the one above, just make sure to use a strip of tape to keep your lines sharp and the edges even. Love a nail hack that actually works.

The models at the Kim Shui fall/winter 2022 show wore almond nails with a handful of different designs, but a standout was the colorful French manicures in unexpected shades of lilac, yellow, pale pink, and baby blue, as shown here.

I'm not gonna lie, French tips aren't the easiest to DIY, but this kit with brushes of different shapes and widths will help you create the cleanest lines and clean up the mistakes.

Models at both Brandon Maxwell and Michael Kors wore a rich brown nail polish that feels perfectly fall yet somehow also timeless. And the color looks even better when paired with medium-length round nails.

The nails shown above from the Michael Kors show feature a not-yet-released shade from JINsoon, but a warm-toned brown like this one can help you achieve a similar look.

The models at Christian Cowan wore coffin or square nails of all lengths, from short and subtle to extra-long and dramatic. But no matter how long or short the nails were, all of the options included beaded embellishments on a few accent nails.

Almost like jewelry for your nails, these loose metal beads allow you to create whatever design you want or add a little detail to enhance your nail art look.

Super-sharp stiletto nails like these basically beg for a deep red polish in the fall. Julie Kandalec, who created these for The Blonds fall/winter 2022 show, gave these nails that gradient effect with a liner brush dipped in acetone. Genius.

This moody red nail polish makes for the best Halloween nail art, right?! And if you've never tried this long-wear polish, you'll love how it'll last you long after the holiday is over.
